Moldova documents 4sale, also known as the carte de identitate or buletin de identitate, is a mandatory identity document for all citizens of Moldova residing in the country. Here’s what you should know about the identity card and associated documents issued between 2019-2023:
General Information
- The ID card serves as proof of identity and citizenship within Moldova and as a travel document for crossing borders where international agreements allow.
- Moldovan citizens residing in Moldova must possess an ID card from the age of 14.
Validity PeriodsThe validity of the ID card varies based on age:
- 4 years for individuals aged 0-7 years
- 7 years for individuals aged 7-14 years
- 10 years for individuals aged 14-70 years
- Unlimited for individuals after reaching the age of 70 years
2019 Series
- As of April 1, 2020, the 2019 series of ID cards no longer includes the holder’s blood type on the back.
- This series introduced an NFC ICAO-compliant biometric chip and logo for storing the bearer’s details electronically.
Issuance and Application ; Moldova documents 4sale
- Where to Apply: Applications can be submitted within Moldova at the subdivisions of the Public Services Agency (PSA), and abroad at the diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Republic of Moldova (DMCO).
- Required Documents: When applying for a national ID card, you generally need to present several original documents:
- Passport or Soviet-type passport for use abroad
- Civil status certificates (birth, marriage, divorce, change of name/surname, children’s birth certificates if under 16, spouse’s death certificate)
- Internal identity document that you possess (ID card with the attached form or one of the following: Soviet-type issued passport, residence permit, identity card for stateless person, refugee identity card, identity card for beneficiaries of humanitarian protection). If the ID card is lost or has expired and is not in your possession, you will submit a copy of it.
- Qualified Certificate for Electronic Signature: When issuing the ID card, individuals with full legal capacity can apply for registration of a qualified certificate for electronic signature, valid for a maximum of 5 years.
